Neo: “What is the Matrix?”
Trinity: “The answer is out there, Neo, and it’s looking for you, and it will find you if you want it to.”

Hoy se cumplen 10 años del estreno de la película que marcó un hito en la historia del género sci-fi. “The Matrix”, dirigida y producida por los hermanos Wachowski, se estrenó el 31 de marzo de 1999 en Estados Unidos y popularizó el efecto visual conocido como bullet-time, que permite al expectador observar el progreso de una acción en baja velocidad mientras las cámera gira en torno a la escena a velocidad normal.

Como fiel seguidor de la trilogía, me causó cierta sorpresa la fecha de caducidad del pasaporte de Neo en The Matrix, curiosidad que apareció en Digg hace un par de días:

Aunque revisé la IMDB con la trivia sobre la película, en 1999 no había motivo para darle importancia a la fecha:

“Some personal information can be seen on Thomas Anderson’s “criminal record” that Agent Smith glances at when he interrogates Neo: The last update to the file was July 22, 1998 Neo’s date of birth is “March 11, 1962″ Neo’s place of birth is “Lower Downtown, Capitol City” Neo’s mother’s maiden name is “Michelle McCahey” Neo’s father’s name is “John Anderson” Neo attended “Central West Junior High” and “Owen Paterson High” (named after the film’s production designer). Seconds later a photocopy of his passport can be seen. There the place of his birth is CAPITAL CITY USA, his date of birth is the 13th of September 1971, the passport was issued on the 12th of September 1991 and will expire on the 11th of September 2001.”
