Más grave que se caiga Twitter es que Gmail deje de prestar sus servicios…aunque después el mismo Twitter tampoco dure mucho tiempo. Si hasta hace un par de años, lo usual era iniciar un post y quejarse de la caída de un servicio, en la era de la web en tiempo real la carga es soportada por Facebook y Twitter.
Hace unos momentos, Gmail dejó de entregar el correo electrónico a medio planeta debido a un problema aún no especificado. Así aparece el Google Apps Status Dashboard:
Google hizo conocer rápidamente que estaban al tanto de los problemas:
We know many of you are having trouble accessing Gmail right now — we are too, and we definitely feel your pain. We don’t usually post about minor issues here (the Apps status dashboard and the Gmail Help Center are usually where this kind of information goes). Because this is impacting so many of you, we wanted to let you know we’re currently looking into the issue and hope to have more info to share here shortly. If you have IMAP or POP set up already, you should be able to access your mail that way in the meantime. We’re terribly sorry for the inconvenience and will get Gmail back up and running as soon as possible.

Al parecer, quienes utilizan un cliente como Outlook o Thunderbird, pueden revisar su correo electrónico normalmente. Seguramente, después de esta caída del servicio, se iniciarán nuevamente los debates acerca de los servicios gratuitos, la dependencia de Google y los peligros del cloud computing. Mientras tanto, y hasta que todo vuelva a la normalidad, estoy recuperando mi contraseña de mi cuenta en Yahoo! Mail.

Allí si nadie dice nada… Pero si hubiera sido Windows Live Mail ya todo el mundo hablaría pestes… pero no lo han hecho porque en realidad sirve…
